I sat my boss down and interviewed her! She’s unique in the sense that she really allows us to carve our own roles and our own paths because she wants us to be happy and work with our strengths. She cares so much about the world around her and she’s on a hot mission, so we got to the bottom of it because I think everyone needs to hear it, so that’s how we got to this point, I interviewed my boss, the Queen of Guiya Minerals.

Esther: “Let’s dive right in. Guiya Minerals has a unique vision of connecting feminine energy and empowering women. Can you share the inspiration behind starting this brand and how it sets Guiya Minerals apart in the beauty industry?”

Bell: “Thanks, Esther! It’s awesome to be here chatting with you. Guiya Minerals was born from a deep desire to create a brand that goes beyond just makeup. We wanted to build a community that supports and empowers women, breaking the stereotype that women don’t support each other. This genuine connection and nurturing environment make us stand out from other makeup brands”.

Esther: “That’s fantastic, you’re my idol. The sense of unity and empowerment is truly admirable. Can you tell us more about the journey you aim to take with your customers? How do you want them to feel when using Guiya Minerals products?”

Bell: “Guiya Minerals was developed and created for more of a spiritual journey rather than just a makeup that women wear. We aim to enhance not just the outer beauty but also the inner beauty of our customers. We want them to feel confident and beautiful from within. It’s about embracing their uniqueness and feeling good about themselves.”

Esther: “I love that holistic approach so much. Now, let’s talk about the community involvement aspect. How does Guiya Minerals incorporate community work into its business model, and why is it so important to you?”

Bell: “Community involvement is close to my heart. As a team, we believe in giving back and making a positive impact on people’s lives. It’s not just about selling makeup; it’s about creating a movement of happiness and support. We are setting up a free monthly gathering called Ground With Guiya. Attendees can expect breathwork, meditation and sound healing to begin with. This aspect excites me the most because we get to make a difference in people’s lives beyond the world of cosmetics.”

Esther: “I love that! Trust is essential in the beauty industry, and your commitment to honesty and transparency is evident. Can you share more about the thoughtful selection of ingredients and why it matters to Guiya Minerals?”

Bell: “Our brand’s ethos revolves around using the best and most natural ingredients in our products. We’ve put in a lot of effort to ensure that each product is of the highest quality and resonates with our purpose – to make people feel happy and confident. We prioritise ingredients that nourish and care for the skin, avoiding harmful chemicals. Honesty and transparency are key to us, and we want our customers to trust that they are using products that are good for them and the environment.”

Esther: “Now, let’s talk about the grand vision of Guiya Minerals – creating world happiness. How do you plan to achieve this vision through your brand?”

Bell: “Creating world happiness is at the core of everything we do at Guiya Minerals. We believe that beauty starts from within, and when we feel good about ourselves, we spread that positivity to others. It’s like a ripple effect – one person’s happiness inspires another. This is also where Ground With Guiya comes in, it will help women slow down and get back in touch with themselves. By empowering women and encouraging them to embrace their unique beauty and get together to support each other in their communities, we hope to make the world a happier place. These aspects are only the beginning but we’ve got to start somewhere!”

Esther: “That’s such a beautiful vision, Bell. Finally, could you share your thoughts on what being an Australian brand means to Guiya Minerals?”

Bell: “Being an Australian brand is more than just a location; it’s about embracing the spirit and essence of Australia. We take immense pride in our homeland and its rich resources. Our connection to the land, its natural elements have shaped our brand identity. Guiya Minerals embodies the vibrant, diverse, and empowering spirit of Australia.”

Guiya: Esther, thank you for joining us today. Let’s start by exploring the key experiences that have shaped your path towards finding your purpose. Can you share some pivotal moments? 

“Absolutely! Becoming a parent at a young age was a turning point in my life. It forced me to mature quickly and instilled a tremendous amount of resilience within me. Additionally, pursuing my entrepreneurial spirit as a professional wedding photographer played a significant role in my journey. Running my own business taught me valuable lessons about who I am, who I aspire to be, and who I do not want to become. It’s through the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship that I started to find my path to my purpose.” 

Guiya: Your journey towards self-confidence is truly inspiring. Can you tell us about the transformation you underwent in embracing self-love? 

“It has been a gradual process. I used to despise the stretch marks on my belly, viewing them as flaws that made me feel like a “freak.” Over time, I learned to accept and eventually love these marks. It was a journey of forgiveness, not only for my past self but also for harbouring such negative thoughts about my own body. Through this process, I created space for the past, present, and future versions of myself to coexist harmoniously. This newfound self-love expanded beyond my physical appearance, allowing me to embrace my entire existence. Now, I see my body as a vessel to care for and appreciate, while my soul takes centre stage.” 

Guiya: You have encountered significant challenges on your journey. Can you share one of the most impactful obstacles you faced and how you overcame it? 

“One of the most challenging periods of my life was experiencing burnout for 18 consecutive months while simultaneously managing an evolving business during the pandemic. Within that time frame, I tragically lost my beloved grandmother and my dear dog, compounding the

emotional toll. It felt like a universal lesson, urging me to slow down and align my actions with my values. Realising that life was passing by and questioning its purpose, I made a monumental decision. I closed my successful business after five years of operation, relocated to a more nurturing environment, and redefined my daily habits and rituals to align with my goals and values. This transformative experience has been life-changing.” 

Guiya: Your commitment to sustainability is admirable. How do you incorporate eco-conscious practices into your daily life? 

“I think we can’t “do it all”, but we can try to do our part, consciously. I strive to be mindful of my environmental impact. I make a conscious effort to recycle, purchase compostable coffee pods, shop in vintage stores and op-shops, and actively seek out stores that offer refillable options for household cleaners and detergents. I have incorporated 2-3 “vegan days” a week into my meals, reducing my carbon footprint and adding balance through my dietary choices. Wherever I go, I make it a habit to pick up rubbish, contributing to a cleaner and healthier world. 

Guiya: Empowering others seems to be a significant part of your journey. Can you tell us about your experiences mentoring young women and empowering them through your photography? 

“It’s a beautiful coincidence that I find myself mentoring young women for approximately 12 months each year. These individuals are incredibly talented and eager to learn, often assisting me during photoshoots. Being able to share my knowledge and help them navigate the professional photography industry is immensely rewarding. Furthermore, I love conducting empowerment shoots, where I capture the essence of a woman and help her feel incredible. It’s a powerful experience to witness her discover the beauty that I see in her. Empowering others through photography is a true joy.”
